5 Tips to make the most of the long weekend

Labour Day is the day to commemorate the struggle for an eight-hour working day and the rights of workers in New Zealand. It is on the fourth Monday in October, which is next Monday the 23rd Oct 2017. This means most workers are having a long weekend to refresh themselves. Here, we would like to suggest 5 tips to make the most of your long weekend.

Tip 1. Do not plan your tour destination too far from your home if you are planning to travel for the long weekend. You do not want to waste most of your time in traffic. It is a long weekend but it is not long enough and you will end up feeling tired if you are stuck in traffic more than 3 hours a day. Choose your destination less than 3 hours away.

Tip 2. Find attractions that relax your tiredness and refreshes your mind.. The spa is the one without a doubt highly recommended. The thermal spa is an iconic attraction in Rotorua and Taupo.
Tip 3. It is always good to look at doing nature activities. New Zealand is a country blessed with beautiful nature. You may have experienced that stress release while you are tracking on a mountain or walking on the beautiful beach or lake. If you are an animal lover, a Farm tour is a great idea for your weekend activity. While you are interacting with animals in a traditional animal farm like 'The Farm Tour' in Rotorua, you will find yourselves relieved from the stress.

Tip 4. Beautiful food must be accompanied with your weekend. A nice meal with family and friends makes the most of your day. However, everyone has their own tastes so it is too hard to choose the best restaurant for your family or friends. A buffet restaurant is the best choice in this case. If you will be in Rotorua this weekend, brunch or lunch at the ‘Farmside Buffet’ is great value for money.

Tip 5. Make your weekend both fun and memorable. Search activities that you can enjoy with your family or friends. There are exciting outdoor activities and fun indoor activities like the '3D TrickArt Gallery'. We all hope the weather is fine this weekend but unless it's raining the 3D Trick Art Gallery won’t let you down. Take as many photos as you can and make your fun experience memorable.

Where is the optimal travel destination for the long weekend? It is highly dependent on where you live, but if you live in Auckland, I have no doubt it is Rotorua. In Rotorua, there are no worries about where to go. Visit the 'Rotorua Heritage Farm' and enjoy nature at The Farm Tour, food at the Farmside Buffet and fun activities at the 3D Trick Art Gallery all in one spot.
